Episode 60 – Steve Taylor – Meltdown

Steve Taylor was not afraid to take on difficult topics and that fact is on full display in his 1984 debut full-length album, Meltdown. Steve and Britt jump in and take on these topics song-by-song.
After the Petra and One Bad Pig interviews on YouTube, I figured I better check out the podcast. Man we must have listened to a lot of the same music! Huge Steve Taylor fan here! And you guys talking about Michael Sweet. This all sends me back to my junior high and high school days!
While listening to this podcast so many memories came to me…
So my introduction to Steve Taylor was the Now The Truth Can Be Told compilation and just listened to it over over until I decided to find as many albums as I could (it’s funny how with Spodify you can just find an artists entire catalogue in seconds). I started with Squint…amazing album with such great studio musicians (Jerry McPherson played guitar on that album – you mentioned Jerry on this podcast). I went on eBay and found old copies of I Want to Be a Clone, I Predict 1990 and Chegall Guevarra – spending way more than I should have to get these.
I agree, Hero is an amazing song. He put out a live album called Liver and the version of Hero live is chilling. Keyboards replaced with just heavily overdriven guitar playing arpeggios with a descending bass line. Such a great version.
I Predict A Clone – the Steve Taylor tribute album has some amazing covers of Steve’s classic material.
Ok, on to the next podcast!
